Monterey County Habitat for Humanity wanted a site they could update themselves. The site was originally created and maintained in Dreamweaver, so updates were slow and relied on one person. I recommended Drupal to make it easy for Habitat staff and volunteers to keep the website updated. My role is to keep Drupal running smoothly, and to provide support and training for the volunteers who update the site.
The new site borrowed heavily on the design of the old site, but with many new features made possible by Drupal:
- Webforms to make it easier for families to apply to become a Habitat family
- Contact form that keep email addresses private
- News section to keep our supporters, volunteers and donors current on what is going on
- Attention-grabbing frontpage images that focus on primary site functionality
- Multiple newsletters that let Habitat keep in touch with their supporterss and volunteers can sign up for to receive updates
