E-book comics are increasingly common and are notoriously expensive to localize because the text is often embedded in images. I have developed a set of guidelines and a technique that will lower the cost of localizing e-book comics by modifying how they are authored. By moving the text from Photoshop (an environment that is inherently unfriendly to localization) to HTML (which is almost trivial to localize), costs are greatly reduced, especially for multilingual projects. For the same cost as a traditional Photoshop single-language workflow, multiple languages could be translated. You can download a PDF of my slides.
